What is the class? As part of the first national #sewingsaturday we will be hand stitching in Derby city centre in Derby Museum's new café. It's light, airy and surrounded by tea artefacts and books. The class is relaxed, fun and caters for up to 10 crafters.
What will I be making? The class is a technique hand stitching crafternoon using embroidery hoops to work with and we will be finishing our piece to make a keepsake. Our inspiration is from vintage traced embroidery patterns We will be testing out six stitches first, chain stitch, running stitch, satin stitch, French knots, lazy daisy and back stitch. We will be stitching using a variety of embroidery stitches on fabric selected by you from the stash. Then with your templates traced onto your fabric we will be hand embroidering and applique-ing (using fabric). We will be providing pretty embellishments for your keepsakes including ribbons, buttons and crayons to provide a vintage touch. Learn new techniques in stitching and applique to make your own textile decorative art keepsake.
